Comparison of analgesics for pain after brachial plexus injury: Tramadol vs paracetamol with codeine

Abstract

Severe chronic pain was reported in 10 to 51% of the patients who had brachial plexus injury. Direct nerve injury and deafferentation are the main causes of pain in these patients. Intensive management including medication is needed to control pain. Many kinds of analgesics are used in these patients. However, clinical studies of these drugs are rather limited. The aim of the present study was to examine the clinical efficacy and complications of two commonly used analgesics, tramadol and paracetamol with codeine, in these patients.
