The purpose of this experimental study is to compare the effectiveness among pre, mid, and post music therapy intervention towards the stress management in mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder. The participants consisted of three mothers of children with autism. All participants attended virtual Music Therapy twice a week for five weeks. Music therapy interventions involved listening to music, Music and Imagery, song writing, playlist, music and movement. This research combined several tools like general information questionnaire, Thai version of Maternal Stress Index, Thai version of Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), SCERTS Worksheet for Communication Stage Assessment, interview and observation forms. Quantitative data analysis employed statistical methods of descriptive statistics to outline basic information about the sample groups and to present stress level score. Subsequently, paired sample t-tests were utilized to compare the average stress conditions before, during, and after the experiment. While qualitative data analysis was conducted via interviews and observations. The results indicated that the children in the sample group were diagnosed with autism between the ages of 3 to 5 years old with the majority receiving treatment from child psychiatrists. Such treatment comprised of therapy and activities that were tailored to the child's mood and behavior to stimulate development and manage stress. The findings suggested that virtual music therapy activities could effectively reduce stress in the mothers of children with autism. While the comparative statistical analysis among the average stress levels before, during, and after the experiment revealed a 0.05 significant difference when comparing before and during the investigation. After participating virtual music therapy activities, the mothers’ average stress level showed a noticeable decrease. Furthermore, it was observed that the participants’ reduced stress levels were evident in both body languages and reported experiences. These changes were closely linked to the participants' emerging emotional states.
