The mechanism of tissue injuries is mixed, blunt, and penetrating trauma injuries. For penetrating trauma, destruction of flesh tissue is due to passing of the bullet through it and the large amount of kinetic energy transferred to the tissue. A high-velocity bullet causes more tissue damage than a low-velocity bullet.
