In-depth interviews were conducted with 25 informants and focus groups held with 39 elderly inmates in Thailand. In addition, content analysis has been produced to fully understand the context of such correctional and rehabilitation practice. The results of the study note that the pre-release preparation programmes provided to elderly inmates in Thailand require improvement, particularly in the prison management instituted (e.g., by ensuring that appropriate correctional staff are involved, that pertinent programmes are available for elderly inmates and that families/communities are involved within the pre-release preparation process.
