It is argued that most of the "real" changes in the Tc's of the superconductors are due to changes in the interlayer (between unit cells) coupling of the order parameters associated with adjacent CuO layers. It is shown that the suppression of the isotope effects can be understood within this approach. © 1991.Mahidol UniversityPhysics and AstronomyOn the isotope effect and critical temperatures of high temperature layered superconductorsArticleSCOPUS10.1016/0921-4534(91)90468-E
