The research aims to assess the effectiveness of current educational strategies, identify key components of comprehensive teacher training programs, and understand students’ perceptions of Nanyin education. Methodology: The study employs a systematic literature review guided by the PRISMA framework to analyze the impact of existing strategies in Nanyin education. It includes a review of literature from various educational institutions like the Quanzhou Nanyin Music School and Fujian Normal University to illustrate how traditional Nanyin education is integrated with modern teaching methodologies. Results: The findings emphasize the importance of incorporating Nanyin’s historical and cultural significance within the curriculum, enhancing musical skills, and employing creative teaching strategies. However, challenges such as a shortage of qualified teachers, lack of standardized teaching aids, and the need for research-based effectiveness of educational programs were identified. Conclusion: The study concludes that the current educational strategies for Nanyin are effective in enhancing students’ musical and cultural understanding. However, there is a need for further development of teacher training programs and educational resources to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of Nanyin education. Implications: This research has significant implications for policymakers, educators, and cultural institutions. It suggests that interdisciplinary approaches, community engagement, and the use of technology are essential for improving access to Nanyin education and preserving this important cultural heritage for future generations..Social SciencesArts and HumanitiesMUSICOLOGY EXPLORING THE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF TRADITIONAL MUSIC—— CURRENT STATUS OF TEACHING NANYINArticleSCOPUS10.58262/ArtsEduca.40122-s2.0-8520503081422540709
