(วัฒนธรรมศึกษา))--มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล, 2551https://repository.li.mahidol.ac.th/handle/123456789/94421วัฒนธรรมศึกษา (มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล 2551)การวิจัยครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาอัตลักษณ์และกระบวนการสร้างอัตลักษณ์ทางชาติพันธุ์ของกะเหรี่ยงโป บ้านบ่อหวี อำเภอสวนผึ้ง จังหวัดราชบุรี ประเทศไทย ผ่านดนตรี โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล ประกอบด้วยการสัมภาษณ์ระดับลึก กับผู้เกี่ยวข้องต่างๆ ได้แก่ ผู้นำชุมชนทั้งที่เป็นและไม่เป็นทางการ ผู้ก่อตั้ง นักร้อง และนักแสดงของวงดนตรีกะเหรี่ยงโป บ้านบ่อหวี รวมทั้งชาวบ้านบ่อหวี และ บุคคลภายนอกที่ได้มีโอกาสชมวงดนตรีดังกล่าว ในช่วงระหว่างเดือน สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2549 ถึงเดือนสิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2551 ผลการศึกษาพบว่า กะเหรี่ยงโปบ้านบ่อหวีได้สูญเสียอัตลักษณ์ดั้งเดิมของตนไปเนื่องจากพัฒนาของภาครัฐ ทำให้ต้องสร้างอัตลักษณ์ขึ้นใหม่เพื่อเป็นการตอกย้ำความเป็นตัวตนของกะเหรี่ยงและแสดงออกให้สังคมภายนอกได้รับรู้ โดยมีกระบวนการสร้าง คือ (1) สร้างแนวคิดเรื่องวัฒนธรรมและความสามัคคีเพื่อปลุกจิตสำนึกของชาวกะเหรี่ยง (2) ใช้ทุนทางสังคมเป็นตัวขับเคลื่อนอัตลักษณ์ ผ่านองค์กรปกครอง ส่วนท้องถิ่นเพื่อขอรับการสนับสนุนเรื่องงบประมาณ (3) การรื้อฟื้นเครื่องดนตรีกะเหรี่ยงซึ่งแต่เดิมเคยมีอยู่ในหมู่บ้านกลับขึ้นมาใหม่ (4) การจัดหาเครื่องแต่งกายให้นักดนตรีและนักแสดงที่แสดงสัญลักษณ์ของความ เป็นกะเหรี่ยง (5) นำคำร้องและทำนองเพลงดั้งเดิมมาปรับปรุงเนื้อหาเพื่อบอกเล่าประวัติความเป็นมาของบรรพบุรุษ และปลุกสำนึกเรื่องความรักสามัคคี (6)พัฒนารูปแบบการแสดงที่ตอกย้ำความรักและสามัคคีภายในกลุ่มอัตลักษณ์ของกะเหรี่ยงโปถูกผลิตซ้ำด้วยการนำวงดนตรีไปแสดงในโอกาสต่างๆ ทั้งภายในและนอกหมู่บ้าน และดำเนินงานโดยกลุ่มคนที่รวมตัวกันเพื่อสืบสานความเป็นกระเหรี่ยง ซึ่งอาจขาดความยั่งยืน ดังนั้นหน่วยงานในพื้นที่อาทิ โรงเรียน ควรเข้ามามีบทบาทในการสืบทอดอัตลักษณ์ องค์การบริหาร ส่วนตำบล ควรเข้ามาสนับสนุนงบประมาณและการอำนวยความสะดวกในการประสานงานกับหน่วยงานความมั่นคงในการออกไปแสดงนอกหมู่บ้านThe objective of this research was to study ethnic identity and ethnic identity construction process of Pwo Karen in Bowee Village, Tanowsri Sub-district, Saunpaung District, Rachaburi Province Thailand. The research methodology was qualitative research. Data were gathered by using in-depth interview with related persons who are both official and unofficial leaders of the community, the founder, singers, and performers from the music band of Pwo Karen in Bowee Village, including Bowee villagers, and third parties who had a chance to see the performance of the mentioned music band during August 2006 to August 2008. The research result found that Pwo Karen had lost their original ethnic identity. Because of the development of the governmental sector, the ethnic identity was reconstructed in order to focus on individuality of Karen and to show such individuality to outside society for acknowledgement. The process of ethnic identity construction included (1) creating ideas on culture and harmony in order to cultivate consciousness of Karen, (2) using social capital as identity driver through local administration organizations in order to ask for budget support, (3) bringing back Karen musical instruments which previously used to exist in the village, (4) providing a costume for musical players and performers which showed the unique style of Karen, (5) improving the content of original rhythms and lyrics in order to narrate history and background of Karen ancestors as well as to cultivate the consciousness of harmony, and (6) developing the style of performance which concentrated on love and harmony in the group. The identity of Pwo Karen was reproduced by performances of the music band on several occasions, both inside and outside the village. In addition, the music band was operated by a cooperative group of persons in order to succeed in being Karen, although this cooperation may lack sustainability. Thus, organizations in the area, such as schools should play a major role in identity succession.
