It is observed that increased amounts of nitrogen are absorbed as the SmCo5powders are heated at higher temperatures in a flowing N2atmosphere. The saturation magnetization Msof the bonded SmCo5Nxmagnets initially increases as the amount of nitrogen absorbed is increased but then decreases as additional nitrogen is absorbed. A possible explanation of this behavior is given.
