Neodymium/erbium doped yttrium orthovanadates of nano-to micrometre sized crystals with varying morphologies have been obtained through hydrothermal and solvothermal reactions. The crystals obtained have been subjected to powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and morphological and scanning electron microscopic studies. © 2010 W. S.
