The Sustainable Livelihood Framework was applied to analyse the lives of visually disabled people with the goal of creating a Sustainable Livelihood Framework specifically suited for the daily needs of visually impaired people. Empirical evidence was drawn from semi-structured interviews with 12 visually impaired participants who were selected according to conditions of visual impairment and then with 6 visually impaired people who had professionally successful lives in Thailand’s capital Bangkok. The findings demonstrated that self-concept and societal attitude were the fundamental factors in constructing a secure and sustainable livelihood for visually disabled people.
