Two kinds of stimulatory effect were investigated. First, 10 mM caffeine increased the percentage motility severalfold by initiating the motility of nonmotile spermatozoa. Second, 10 mM caffeine accelerated the mean motility rate by 2 fold. Glucose, fructose, pyruvate, lactate, and intermediates of the tricarboxylic acid cycle (ATP, ADP, and AMP) enhanced the first effect but not the second.Mahidol UniversityMedicineStimulation of human spermatozoal motility by caffeineArticleSCOPUS10.1016/S0015-0282(16)39909-5
