The method used were analysis of common music theory practice (creating complete scores) and analysis of timbral materials. The lyrics of the songs were observed using Robert Cogan's observation of Linguistic phonology based on the Phonological research of Roman Jakobson and Linda Waugh and of N. S. Trubetzkoy. The words containing vowels in both songs were examined phonologically and divided into four timbral qualities: grave (dark), acute (bright), sustained and clipped. When the verbal analysis was combined with the instrumentation part, more sonic oppositions were introduced, and through spectrogram analysis software, an analysis of timbre spectrum of both songs was created. The results were presented in graphs that showed the amount of the energy in each section of the song, and extreme or non-extreme timbre qualities of each word in the section. The graphs also enabled the researcher to identify more complex or less complex layers and the direction of the whole instrumentation along with the lyrics.งานวิจัยนี้ศึกษาเพลง 2 เพลง คือ "พบกันใหม่" และ "เวลาเธอยิ้ม" ของ ศิลปินวงโพลีแคท (Polycat) โดยมีวิธีการวิเคราะห์และศึกษา 2 วิธี คือ การวิเคราะห์โดยใช้ทฤษฎีดนตรีแบบ ตะวันตก (สร้าง score เพลง) และ การวิเคราะห์คุณลักษณ์ของเสียงด้านต่าง ๆ โดยใช้ทฤษฎี Linguistic Phonology ซึ่งอิงจากงานวิจัยด้าน Phonological ของ Roman Jakobson , Linda Waugh และ N. S.
