However, the inconsistency in quality among field-grown plants has limited their pharmaceutical utility and production. In this study, we investigate the influence of white, red, blue, and green LEDs light on the growth and bacoside production of diploid (2x) and tetraploid (4x-82) B. monnieri. Notably, blue and green light emerged as significant promoters of robust growth in both plant lines, resulting in shoot lengths 1.5–1.8 times longer than those observed under other light treatments. These effects were attributed to differences in internode length and the number of nodes. Moreover, green light led to the largest leaf area, surpassing that of plant grown under white light by 1.2–1.3 times. In terms of biomass, green light induced the highest dry biomass, representing 1.5–1.6 times increase compared to the white light treatment. Significant variations in specific bacoside production and genes expression were observed, with the green light treatment markedly providing the highest bacoside yields, exceeding those of the white light treatment by 1.5–2.8 times. Moreover, differences in bacoside contents and genes expression between the 2x and 4x-82 plant lines underscore the complex interplay between genetic factors and light quality. These findings emphasize the crucial role of controlled light treatments in modulating the growth and biochemical composition of B. monnieri, particularly highlighting the advantageous effects of green light. Nevertheless, further research into underlying molecular mechanisms is necessary.Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular BiologyAgricultural and Biological SciencesGreen LEDs lighting enhances vigorous growth and boosts bacoside production in hydroponically cultivated Bacopa monnieri (L.)
