The operation was performed under local anesthesia and on an out-patient basis. The abdominal cavity was approached through a small suprapubic incision and the Fallopian tube was brought up into view of the incision by the Ramathibodi uterine mobilizing device inserted into the uterine cavity and manipulated through the vagina. Direct pick up of the tube and interruption of its lumen were made. Having interrupted both tubal lumina, the small incision was closed in layers. The patient was allowed to go home 2 to 3 hours after the operation. The results were satisfactory. It is suggested that sterilization by this technique is suitable for a rural set-up, especially in a less developed country. © 1974.Mahidol UniversityMedicineSuprapubic mini-laparotomy, uterine elevation technique: Simple, inexpensive and out-patient procedure for interval female sterilizationArticleSCOPUS10.1016/0010-7824(74)90003-1
