On examination, oxygen (O2) saturation records 75% (oximeter probe on left thumb). The newborn infant has decreased air entry on auscultation of the left chest. Breath sounds are reduced with muffled gurgles. Heart sounds are noted to be more prominent on the right side of the thorax.
