Liver viscerotomy specimens were obtained from 21% of the persons aged 15 yr or more who lived and died in the municipal areas of Ratburi, Potharam, Baan Pong and Nakorn Pathom (combined population 99,537) in south-western Thailand, and from 33% of comparable persons in the municipal areas of Songkhla and Haad Yai (combined population 97,867) in southernmost Thailand.
