Materials and methods: Six brands of toothbrush bristles, one taper end, one taper mixed with rounded end, one rounded end mixed with flattened end and three rounded end were studied. Randomly selected bristles from 6 toothbrush brands, after prepared toothbrush followed Rawls et al. Cut the bristles 5 mm apart from the bristle end with fine surgical scissors under direction vision of a binocular dissecting microscope. The specimens were prepared for scanning electron microscope. Results: The unused tapered bristles showed the changes in their configuration. All kinds of used toothbrushes showed the changes in their configuration and wear, including some deposit on toothbrush bristles.
