Implementation of a health monitoring information system for laboratory animals

Abstract

This study concentrates on developing the implementation of a health monitoring information system for laboratory animals in the Research and Development Division of the National Laboratory Animal Centre of Thailand, Mahidol University. Major objective of the study is to design and develop a more efficient health monitoring system. Therefore, the Health Monitoring Information System for laboratory animals was developed and installed in a Novell Netware 3.12 network. The database system was constructed with the relational database concept using Microsoft Access Version 2.0 for Windows 3.11 for Workgroup. The database has been installed on the file server. Visual Basic Programming Language Version 4.0 develop the application software which is installed on the client. Since a security and control is necessary, the security system is classified by level of user' s operations for limited retrieval from the database. Hence, the access is also extended to authorised users in other divisions.
