Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center, 2023) Suwanna Eua-Atthakaroon; Thanakorn Uan-On; Suttinant NantachitThe primary purposes of this study were to develop a model of dental services in the dental clinic at Prakonchai Hospital which concerned the flow of patients and dental instruments, and to analyze the performance of their services. Performance measures in the simulation model were waiting time and time of dental patient in system, and utilization time of dental units. In creating model, empirical and historical data were used, which came from the observation and records review in the real system. The methods selected for this study were queuing and simulation. The model was constructed using the general language C++. The events simulated were the arrival of dental patients, calling of patients, beginning services, departure of patients, and sterilizing of instruments. Model testing and validation were performed during and after model formulation for credibility and validity. The results indicated that the system could sufficiently provide dental services for the present. To retain this ability, maintaining dental instruments and dental units available at all times as well as having appropriate management in servicing were suggested. The developed model could be accepted as a baseline model. Collecting more data from other hospitals was recommended for developing the general model of dental service in the further studies.Item Metadata only A measurement and evaluation of the responsiveness of streaming media video over UDP(Mahidol University. Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center, 2005) Tawee Sribuddee; Thanakorn Uan-OnToday's growth of high speed internet connections and number of connected PCs indicates a growth in the rate of streaming media over the internet and this leads to a impending threat of unresponsive UDP traffic. The response of commercial streaming media applications such as Microsoft Windows Media Services and Windows Media Player will play an important role in networks which use streaming media. Unfortunately, there are few empirical studies that analyze the responsiveness of commercial streaming media. The objective of this research was to study how streaming media responds to a congested network. A streaming media test bed which allowed systematic variation of the network and content encoding characteristics was built. The responsiveness was analyzed by comparing streaming media flows to TCP-friendly flows under various streaming configurations and network conditions. Overall, streaming media is responsive to congestion encountered in a network. Helweg; Thanakorn Uan-On; Texas A and M University; Mahidol UniversityThe surrogate worth trade-off method has been extended to a quadratic programming optimization model and risk has been incorporated into the vector of objective functions which explicitly shows the decision maker the trade-offs between net benefits and increased reliability of the system or the trade-offs between competing reliabilities such as flood control and water supply. The approach is called the Nonlinear Risk-Benefit (NRB) Algorithm.
