Core-shell biopolymer nanoparticles produced by electrostatic deposition of beet pectin onto heat-denatured β-lactoglobulin aggregates
(2008-08-01) R. Santipanichwong; M. Suphantharika; J. Weiss; D. J. McClements; Mahidol University; University of Massachusetts
aggregates could be formed in the pH range from 5.6 to 6. Core-shell biopolymer particles were formed by mixing a suspension of protein aggregates (formed by heating at pH 5.8) with a beet pectin solution at pH 7 and then adjusting the pH to values where... to 6, but aggregated at lower pH values because they had a relatively small ζ-potential. The biopolymer particles remained intact and stable to aggregation up to 250 mM NaCl at pH 4, indicating that they had good salt stability. The core-shell

Extraction and application of dietary fiber and cellulose from pineapple cores
    (2002-01-01) T. Prakongpan; A. Nitithamyong; P. Luangpituksa; Mahidol University
Pineapple core dietary fiber (PDF) was obtained by alcoholic extraction; pineapple core cellulose (PC) was a product of alkali extraction with a bleaching process. Total dietary fiber content of PDF and PC was 99.0% and 95.2% (dry basis...), respectively, and their water activity was 0.25. PC contained 91.2% cellulose with a pH value of 4.0, while that of PDF was 6.2. The fiber product with large particle size gave higher values than the product with smaller particles for pH, water and oil

in children with CP. No psychometric properties have been reported for Thai PedsQL 4.0. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the psychometric properties of the Thai version of the PedsQL 4.0 Generic Core Scales and compare these with the values for the Thai... good to excellent (0.625-0.849). The feasibility and reliability of the Thai PedsQL 4.0 Generic Core Scales were supported. The Thai PedsQL 3.0 CP Module showed higher values for the psychometric properties. Low-to-good correlations were found among

L*, a*, and b*values of all-ceramic crowns cemented either on a metal cast post and core or on a prefabricated post did.... No significant differences were observed between the L*, a*, and b*values of zirconia crowns cemented either on a metal cast post and core or a prefabricated post and composite core. However, the color of a background substructure could affect the overall color

Cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the Thai version of the core outcome measures index for the back (COMI‐back) in patients with low back pain
    (2024-01-01) Santipas B.; Luksanapruksa P.; Ruangchainikom M.; Korwutthikulrangsri E.; Poolpol S.; Wilartratsami S.; Santipas B.; Mahidol University
Purpose: To translate and culturally adapt the Core Outcome Measures Index for the back (COMI-back) into Thai and to evaluate its psychometric properties in Thai-speaking patients with low back pain (LBP). Methods: The translation process followed a... correlation coefficients (ICC). Construct validity was determined by correlating COMI scores with those of reference scales. Results: The Thai COMI-Back exhibited strong reliability, with Cronbach’s alpha values from 0.89 to 0.93 and ICC values over 0

Background: Studies evaluating cosmetic gynecological interventions have followed variable methodology and reported a diversity of outcomes. Such variations limit the comparability of studies and the value of research-based evidence. The development... of core outcome sets (COS) and core outcome measures sets (COMS) would help address these issues, ensuring a minimum of outcomes important to all stakeholders, primarily women requesting or having experienced cosmetic gynecological interventions.
