    (2024-12-01) Popruk S.; Tummatorn J.; Sreesai S.; Ampawong S.; Thiangtrongjit T.; Tipthara P.; Tarning J.; Thongsornkleeb C.; Ruchirawat S.; Reamtong O.; Popruk S.; Mahidol University
of drugs targeting trophozoites in the small intestine. However, existing medications pose challenges due to side effects and drug resistance, necessitating the exploration of novel therapeutic options. Isocryptolepine, derived from Cryptolepis... valuable insights for further drug development. Moreover, the study also offers a promising avenue for the exploration of isocryptolepine derivatives as novel therapeutic agents for giardiasis, addressing the urgent need for more effective and safer

Effects of sensitization on efficacy of mebendazole in mice infected with adult Angiostrongylus costaricensis
    (1993-12-01) A. Tungtrongchitr; A. Ishih; M. Terada; P. Radomyos; Mahidol University
in almost all parameters with a few mice being positive for the first-stage larvae in feces and eggs in the intestinal section. The results suggest development of protective immunity in the sensitized mice though it was not completely effective... especially in worm recovery and worm body length which referred that drug action was enhanced by the sensitization.

for this parasite, and although ivermectin is quite effective in immunocompromised patients, a multiple-course regimen is required. Furthermore, reliance on a single drug class for treating intestinal nematodes is a recipe for future failure. Therefore... as indicated by impairment of motility and decreased viability in vitro. In summary, Cry5B demonstrated strong potential as an effective anthelmintic for treatment and transmission control of human strongyloidiasis, justifying further experiments to investigate

Unveiling the Antimicrobial, Anti-Biofilm, and Anti-Quorum-Sensing Potential of Paederia foetida Linn. Leaf Extract against Staphylococcus aureus: An Integrated In Vitro–In Silico Investigation
    (2024-07-01) Santajit S.; Tunyong W.; Horpet D.; Binmut A.; Kong-Ngoen T.; Wisessaowapak C.; Thavorasak T.; Pumirat P.; Indrawattana N.; Santajit S.; Mahidol University
but potential P-glycoprotein interactions limiting oral bioavailability. While promising anti-virulence effects were demonstrated, the high molecular weights and excessive hydrogen bond donors/acceptors of the flavonoid glycosides raise concerns regarding drug... comprehensive approach, we investigated the effect of ethanolic P. foetida leaf extract on S. aureus biofilms, QS, and antimicrobial activity. The extract exhibited promising inhibitory effects against S. aureus including the biofilm-forming strain and MRSA

Identification of a microbial sub-community from the feral chicken gut that reduces Salmonella colonization and improves gut health in a gnotobiotic chicken model
    (2024-03-05) Wongkuna S.; Ambat A.; Ghimire S.; Mattiello S.P.; Maji A.; Kumar R.; Antony L.; Chankhamhaengdecha S.; Janvilisri T.; Nelson E.; Doerner K.C.; More S.; Behr M.; Scaria J.; Wongkuna S.; Mahidol University
. The in vivo effect of Mix10 was examined in a gnotobiotic and conventional chicken model. The Mix10 consortium significantly reduced Salmonella load at day 2 post-infection in gnotobiotic chicken model and decreased intestinal tissue damage and inflammation...-communities that confer colonization resistance against enteric pathogens and its effect on the host.IMPORTANCESalmonella colonization in chicken and human infections originating from Salmonella-contaminated poultry is a significant problem.
