Publication Metadata only Utilization of a clinical microbiology service at a Cambodian paediatric hospital and its impact on appropriate antimicrobial prescribing(2018-02-01) Shivani Fox-Lewis; Sreymom Pol; Thyl Miliya; Nicholas P.J. Day; Paul Turner; Claudia Turner; Mahidol University; Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine; Angkor Hospital for Children-governmental Cambodian paediatric hospital. Empirical and post-culture antimicrobial prescriptions were reviewed from medical records. The random sample included 10 outpatients per week in 2016 (retrospective) and 20 inpatients per week for 4 weeks... interviews with clinicians explored barriers and facilitators to use of the CMS. Results: Only 31% of outpatients were prescribed empirical antimicrobials. Post-culture prescriptions (394/443, 89%) were more likely to be appropriate than empiricalPublication Metadata only Improving quinolone use in hospitals by using a bundle of interventions in an interrupted time series analysis(2010-09-01) Ina Willemsen; Ben Cooper; Carin Van Buitenen; Marjolein Winters; Gunnar Andriesse; Jan Kluytmans; Amphia Hospital; Mahidol University; VU University Medical Center/month). Before the interventions the quinolone resistance rate was increasing, on average, by 4.6% (95% CI = 2.6 to 6.1%) per year. This increase leveled off, which was associated with intervention 2 and intervention 4, active monitoring of prescriptions... and feedback. Trends in resistance to other antimicrobial agents did not change. This study showed that the hospital-wide use of quinolones can be significantly reduced by an active policy consisting of multiple interventions.
