Abstract
Lopinavir and ritonavir are effective HIV-1 protease inhibitors. Chemometric-assisted spectrophotometric method was proposed for the determination of these two drugs in syrup. A set of calibration mixtures (calibartion set) was design by the Central Composite Design (CCD). The UV spectra results obtained from the calibration set were subjected to principle component regression (PCR) and partial least squares regression (PLS-1) to construct the prediction models for lopinavir and ritonavir in unknown samples. A set of synthetic mixtures was randomly selected and used as samples to validate the models. The prediction models were used to analyze two drugs in syrup and compared with an HPLC method. The results of PCR and PLS-1 methods were agreed with the results obtained from HPLC method.
