Abstract

Complete microsurgical excision is the preferred modality of treatment in the majority of cases. However, for patients with surgically inaccessible, residual, or multiple tumors, determining the best choice of treatment can be challenging. Recently, stereotactic radiosurgery has been shown to be efficacious and safe for hemangioblastomas, either as a primary treatment or as an adjuvant for residual or recurrent tumors. In this chapter, we review the available literature on the treatment of hemangioblastomas utilizing various radiotherapy techniques with emphasis on CyberKnife robotic image-guided radiosurgery applications for these lesions.
