Abstract
Sera from 24 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients and from 24 healthy volunteers were tested with acetone fixed NPC cells by the indirect immunofluorescent technique. Sera from NPC patients reacted with constituents of autologous NPC cells as well as with heterologous NPC cells, while most sera (80%) from healthy volunteers did not react with NPC cells. All sera were also tested for antibody to constituents of various kinds of cells. Most of the sera from NPC patients possessed titers of antibody to constituents of EBV producing cells (TIHeHR-1) (≥ 1:640) that were higher than those of any of the healthy volunteers.
