การติดอินเทอร์เน็ตกับภาวะซึมเศร้าในคนทำงานสำนักงาน คณะแพทยศาสตร์โรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดี

Abstract

วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการติดอินเทอร์น็ตกับภาวะซึมเศร้าและศึกษาข้อมูลระบาดวิทยาของภาวะติดอินเทอร์น็ตในการทำงานสำนักงาน โรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดี วิธีการศึกษา: เป็นการศึกษาแบบ cross-sectional study โดยเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากเจ้าหน้าที่ทำงานสำนักงานของหน่วยงานต่างๆ ในโรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดีในปี พ.ศ. 2554 จำนวน 891 คน ด้วยแบบสอบถาม ซึ่งมี 4 ส่วนได้แก่ ข้อมูลทั่วไป ข้อมูลการใช้อินเทอร์เน็ต แบบประเมินระดับการติดอินเทอร์น็ต Young’s Internet Addiction Test (IAT) และแบบคัดกรองภาวะซึมเศร้า CES-D (Center for Epidemiologic Studies – Depression scale) และใช้ binary logistic regression ในการหาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการติดอินเทอร์น็ตกับภาวะซึมเศร้า ผลการศึกษา: กลุ่มที่ติดอินเทอร์น็ตและอาจมีปัญหาติดอินเทอร์เน็ตส่วนมากอายุน้อย เป็นโสดหรือหม้ายและใช้เวลาเล่นอินเทอร์เน็ตมากกว่า 6 ชม./ ครั้ง หรือ 16 ชม./ สัปดาห์ กลุ่มที่ติดอินเทอร์น็ตส่วนมากใช้อินเทอร์เน็ตเพื่อการสนทนากลุ่มและหาข่าวสาร/ ความรู้ นอกจากนี้พบว่าระดับการติดอินเทอร์น็ตและเพศเป็นปัจจัยที่สัมพันธ์กับภาวะซึมเศร้า โดยกลุ่มที่ติดอินเทอร์น็ต มีคนที่มีภาวะซึมเศร้ามากกว่ากลุ่มที่ไม่ติดติดอินเทอร์น็ตและพบว่าเพศหญิงมีภาวะซึมเศร้ามากกว่าเพศชาย สรุป: การติดอินเทอร์น็ตมีความสัมพันธ์กับภาวะซึมเศร้า แต่ยังไม่สามารถบอกได้ว่าสิ่งไหนเป็นเหตุ สิ่งไหนเป็นผลต้องมีการศึกษาเพิ่มเติมต่อไป

Objective: This study aimed to assess the association between internet addiction and depression. We also studied the epidemiology of the people who are addicted to the internet and working as back office personnel at Ramathibodi Hospital Method: With the cross-sectional study, the data was gathered from 891 back officer personnel in various departments of Ramathibodi Hospital in 2011. The questionnaire consists of four parts i.e. demographic data, characteristic pattern of internet use, Young’s Internet Addiction Test (IAT), and screening test for depression CES-D (Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression Scale). Binary logistic Regression was used to assess the association between the internet addiction and depression. Finding: Results showed that the people addicted to the internet mainly are young (aged between 18 - 30), single or separated, and with the internet use over 6 hours each time or 16 hours per week. The internet is used for chat and information search. It is also found that degree of addiction and gender are associated with the depression. The people who are addicted to the internet are prone to depression with a greater tendency in females. Conclusion: Internet addiction is related to depression. Further studies are need to determine the causes and their consequences.
