dc.description.abstract | Surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars can present with certain post-operative complications such as pain, swelling and trismus although the removal of these teeth is common minor surgical procedure. This review is intended to know the different aspects of the lower third molars impaction classifications and degree of difficulties in related articles. On the evaluation of radiographic images, we found that surgical difficulties in extracting impacted mandibular third molars can be expected on the basis of class 3, position C, bulbous and divergent roots or combination of all these factors. There was one limitation we found that curvature of root was not included in almost all difficulty indices. But it is still required to consider the other important factors, such as periodontal ligament width, soft tissue condition, patient characteristic, and clinician’s experience. Further clinical studies should be conducted for new classification to get more reliable evaluation and more useful for daily practices. Key | en_US |
