Abstract

Over 1000 patients have been treated with artesunate or artemether in clinical trials in Thailand since 1988.These drugs have proved rapidly effective and safe. Combination regimens with mefloquine have proved highly effective against multi-drug resistant Plasmodium falciparum infections. Both drugs are now licensed in Thailand. © 1994 Oxford University Press.
