dc.description.abstract131 I AA was used to study the phagocytic activity of the RES in 7 normal rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta) weighing between 1.9-5.8 kg. The results showed that 131 I AA was phagocytized by the RES according to an exponential function of the blood concentration in relation to time. The phagocytic index was inversely proportional to the dose given with the critical dose of 1.61 mg/kg. The mean values of the phagocytic index and corrected phagocytic index were found to be 0.059 min -1 and 5.41 respectively, calculated from the dose of 5 mg/kg. The dose of 0.03 mg/kg 131 I AA was used to study the sinusoidal liver blood flow. The mean value of sinusoidal liver blood flow was found to be 109.1 ml/min or 0.91 ml/min/gm of liver weight. The results of the corrected phagocytic index and the sinusoidal liver blood flow in the present studies were in the same order of magnitude of the results obtained from mouse, rat, guinea pig, rabbit and man.en_US
