Intestinal transplantation has advanced from an experimental procedure to one that is more commonly performed in several major transplant centers. Still, challenges exist for successful transplantation. One of the major factors impacting outcome is donor selection and procurement techniques. This chapter reviews many of these issues and provides a general technique for all types of intestinal procurement. Controversies and pitfalls are also discussed. Using this guide, safe technical procurement of all intestinal-type transplants can be performed while maximizing utilization of other abdominal organs. © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd..en_US
