Abstract

This study reassesses the impact of globalization on population health using a sample of 76 countries over the period 1970-2008. The empirical evidence supports the positive effect hypotheses that globalization produces favorable influence in health. The main effect of globalization is primarily contributed by social globalization and global medical technology diffusion. To be specific, the most robust finding is that social globalization and imported medical products have significant and negative impact on infant mortality rate, under-5 mortality rate and maternal mortality ratio. © EuroJournals Publishing, Inc. 2011.
