Abstract
The dependence of Tcon the hole concentration, nH, in the two-layer bismuth superconductors is studied. Variation of the oxygen content in the ceramics is accomplished mainly by quenching the specimens from different points in the temperature region where the loss and gain of oxygen occurs. Cationic substitution (replacement of Bi by Pb and of Ca by Y (yielding the doubly substituted superconductor Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Y0.2Ca0.8Cu2Oz)) is also used to vary the hole concentration. The observed data points (for Tcversus nH) form the positive slope portion of an inverted parabolic function dependence of Tcon nHfor the "2212" bismuth superconductors. © 1991.
