This study investigated population and household influences on land use/ land cover change (LU/LCC) in rural northeastern Thailand villages using remote sensing (satellite) data and social survey data from the Nang Rong Projects database. The results show that out-migration events in households have positive relations to LU/LCC. When households are subject to out-migrations, their agricultural land parcels are more likely to result in changes in LULC. On the other hand, agricultural cultivations by households will reduce changes in LULC. There is less likely to be changes in LULC in households with a concentration of agricultural occupations than in households of non-agricultural occupations.en_US
