Ribosomal intergenic spacer analysis (RISA) technique was used to analyze the dynamics of microbial community capable of converting waste glycerol to polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) under cultivation on 5% v.v-1 crude glycerol as a carbon source. Three dominant band patterns were observed during 55 days cultivation. 16S rRNA sequences of dominant RISA bands showed bacterial community cultivated in waste glycerol were closely related to Azoarcus sp., Bacillus cereus, Bacillus pseudofirmus, Flavobacterium columnareand Thauera sp. The RISA technique could be used to identify dynamic microbial community in the bioreactor.en_US
