Abstract

Sepa Khun Chang-Khun Phaen, the Royal Wachirayan Library Version, published in 1917, is recognized as one of Thailand's most prominent literatures and has been popular for generations. As a result, the adaptation of the story has been produced in many forms of writing. By 1917, almost all Khun Chang-Khun Phaen adaptations were in the form of verse such as sepa, lakorn duek dam ban (a type of play influenced by the opera), lige (a Thai traditional dramatic performance), etc. After 1917, Khun Chang-Khun Phaen verses declined while prose forms including novel, prose play, abridged edition of prose and documentary enjoyed more popularity. The story has also appeared in the forms of film, television play and cartoon.
