Carcinoma of the cystic duct is uncommon. It is called primary if the carcinoma was found in the cystic duct only. However, in a large number of cases in the series reported carcinoma is found in the extra hepatic duct in general. The 4 patients have described had carcinoma of the cystic duct associated with opisthorchiasis (Opisthorchis viverrini). It is possible that the latter may have contributed to the formation of cystic duct carcinoma, but no report on such a combination could be found in the literature.en_US
