Abstract
This work was an attempt to investigate variations in processing properties of various grades of Thai natural rubber (NR) before and after compounding, i.e. viscosity, elasticity and plasticity retention index (PRI). It was found that variation in Mooney viscosity, MR30and PRI in NR samples of both smoked sheets and standard block rubbers was not affected to the consistency in processing properties. The mixing properties such as black incorporation time (BIT), mixing time and mixing energy, of NR were also investigated. The properties of the obtained rubber compounds were also fairly consistent. The constant-viscosity graded NR (CV-NR) was proved to be the most consistent grade of NR in aspect of the rheological properties and resistance to oxidation (PRI).
