การลงทะเบียนงานวิจัยทางคลินิกของไทย (Thai Clinical Trials Registry, TCTR) จัดตั้งขึ้นโดยมูลนิธิส่งเสริมวิจัยทางการแพทย์ เพื่อเป็นฐานข้อมูลและเผยแพร่งานวิจัยทางคลินิกในประเทศไทย สนับสนุนและส่งเสริมการพัฒนางานวิจัยทางคลินิกให้โปร่งใส มีคุณภาพ ประสิทธิภาพ ลดความซ้ำซ้อนของงานวิจัย และถูกต้องตามหลักจริยธรรมในการนำเสนอผลงาน ครอบคลุมถึงงานวิจัยของแพทย์ทางเลือก สมุนไพร รวมทั้งประชาสัมพันธ์ฐานข้อมูลสู่กลุ่มประเทศอาเซียน
งานวิจัยที่ได้รับการลงทะเบียนใน TCTR สามารถนำเลขทะเบียนงานวิจัยไปแจ้งไว้ในบทความงานวิจัยในการส่งพิจารณาตีพิมพ์กับวารสารต่างประเทศได้ตามระเบียบการว่าด้วยการตีพิมพ์งานวิจัยในวารสารกลุ่มของ International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) เพราะ TCTR ได้รับการรับรองให้เป็น Primary Registries Network นอกเหนือจาก ClinicalTrials.gov ตามมาตรฐานตามข้อกำหนดขององค์การอนามัยโลก (WHO) และ TCTR ก็ยังเป็นแหล่งฐานข้อมูลอีกฐานของ MedLine และ Pubmed อีกด้วย
ข้อดีของการลงทะเบียนงานวิจัยทางคลินิกของไทย คือ การที่สามารถติดต่อกันระหว่างผู้รับลงทะเบียนงานวิจัย (TCTR) กับผู้วิจัยได้สะดวก มีเจ้าหน้าที่บริการให้ข้อมูลและช่วยเหลือการลงทะเบียนงานวิจัย ทำให้การลงทะเบียนมีความถูกต้องมากขึ้น
แม้จะเป็นการลงทะเบียนงานวิจัยของไทยเอง แต่ใช้การลงทะเบียนด้วยภาษาอังกฤษทั้งหมด เพราะ TCTR รองรับการลงทะเบียนของทั้งในและต่างประเทศ เพื่อประโยชน์ในการเผยแพร่สู่สาธารณะ
