The prevalence of ELISA antibody against CMV in a Thai population between birth and 50 years of age was studied. Children between 6 months and 6 years of age had significantly higher seropositive rates than those between 0-5 months (0.05 > P > 0.01) and between 18-19 years (0.01 > P > 0.001). The mean antibody titer was also highest in the combined age groups of 5 month to 10 years. IgM antibody was demonstrated only in those groups under 17 years and not those above 17 in the older age group. No statistically significant differences between the presence of IgM antibody in different age groups under 17 were found.en_US
