This work reports the measurement of IR-ORD spectrum using an optical arrangement similar to that described by H. H. Belz et al. , but employing the dispersive infrared spectrophotometer Perkin Elmer Model PE683 equipped with the Data Station Model 3500. Two infrared wire grid polarizers are placed in the sample beam with their direction of polarization making an angle of 45 degrees relative to each other. The analyzer is rotated to the position where there is minimum polarization effect from the grating. An absorption spectrum of a sample, e. g. , an induced cholesteric phase, placed between the polarizer and the analyzer, with their polarization directions different by 45 degree , is recorded.en_US
