Acceptance of Family Planning Methods among the Married Women of Reproductive Age at Methpukur Upazila, Bangladesh

Abstract

This cross-sectional study was conducted on factors related to the acceptance of family planning methods among the married women of reproductive age in Methapukur Upazlla in the Rangpur district, Bangladesh. The aims were to identify socio-demographic characteristics, knowledge, attitude, availability and accessibility as factors related to the acceptance of family planning, and explore the association between these factors and acceptance of family planning. A total of 42O married women of reproductive age were interviewed using a structured questionnaire. The sociodemographic, the knowledge and the attitude of respondents have been taken in to account to this study. The percentage and frequency of these factors were presented and the associations between factors have been investigated. The results of the study revealed that the prevalence of family planning methods was 56.31o/o. The majority of the acceptors stated, "Don't want childtt as a reason for using family planning and oral pills were the most popular method. More than half of the respondents had fair knowledge, and had a positive attitude toward family planning. The findings also showed that there was a significant relationship between acceptance of family planning and age of married women, duration of marriage and attitude toward family planning (p-value .0.05) .

งานวิจัยฉบับนี้เป็นการศึกษาถึงตัวแปรที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับการยอมรับวิธีการวางแผนครอบครัวของ กลุ่มหญิงวัยเจริญพันธุ์ที่สมรสแล้ว ในเขตชนบทของประเทศบังคลาเทศ โดยวัตถุประสงค์ของการศึกษา คือ อธิบายลักษณะทั่วไปของกลุ่มประชากร และตัวแปรอื่นๆ ได้แก่ ระดับความรู้ด้านการวางแผน ครอบครัวของกลุ่มหญิงวัยเจริญพันธุ์ที่สมรสแล้ว ทัศนคติต่อการวางแผนครอบครัว บริการด้านการวางแผนครอบครัวที่มีอยู่ และการเข้าถึงการวางแผนครอบครัว อีกทั้งหาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่าง ตัวแปรเหล่านี้ กับการยอมรับวิธีการวางแผนครอบครัวสำหรับงานวิจัยนี้ได้ดำเนินการสำรวจลักษณะข้อมูลทั่วไป ความรู้ทางด้านวิธีการวางแผนครอบครัวทัศนะต่อวิธีการวางแผนครอบครัว และวิธีการเข้าถึงการวางแผนครอบครัวจากหญิงที่สมรสแล้วที่มีอายุระหว่าง 15-49 ปีจำนวน 420 คน ที่อยู่ ในตำบล Methapukur ในอำเภอ Rangpur ประเทศบังคลาเทศ โดยผลการศึกษาพบว่าร้อยละ 56.31 ของกลุ่มตัวอย่างยอมรับวีธิการวางแผนครอบครัว โดยส่วนใหญ่ของกลุ่มที่ยอมรับวิธีการวางแผนครอบครัว คือไม่ต้องการมีบุตร และเลือกใช้ยาเม็ดคุมกำเนิดในการคุมกำเนิดมากกว่าครึ่งหนึ่งของผู้ตอบแบบสอบถาม มีความรู้ด้านการวางแผนครอบครัวในระดับปานกลาง และมีทัศนคติที่ดีต่อการวางแผนครอบครัว การศึกษายังพบว่า อายุ ช่วงเวลาของการแต่งงานและทัศนคติต่อการวางแผนครอบครัว มีความสัมพันธ์กับการยอมรับต่อการวางแผนครอบครัวที่ระดับนัยสำคัญ 0.05 (p<0.05) ขณะที่ระดับการศึกษา ระดับความรู้ อาชีพ และรายได้ ไม่พบความสัมพันธ์ ระหว่างการยอมรับ การวางแผนครอบครัว
