Abstract
© 2016 IEEE. In this paper, the 120W single stage PFC LED driver with a leakage energy recycling circuit is proposed. Three buck-boost derived converters are integrated and they utilize only one common active switch. The first buck-boost converter regulates the sinusoidal input current with unity power factor drawn from the grid. The second flyback converter controls essentially DC current supplied to the LEDs. The other buck-boost converter replaces a conventional RCD snubber to further improve energy efficiency. All converters are designed to operate in discontinuous current mode. Operation principle, circuit analysis, and controller design are discussed in detail. Design example if a 120W LED driver is presented. The proposed topology is verified by software PSIM 10. The simulation results show that it is capable of regulating the output LED current over a wide range. Unity power factor and low harmonic current distortion can be achieved.
