Title
Disseminated intravascular coagulation in adult Dengue haemorrhagic fever. Report of three cases
Three young adult Thai patients with dengue haemorrhagic fever and laboratory confirmed disseminated intravascular coagulation were admitted to hospital in shock with multisystemic complications. Two patients died and fibrin thrombi were demonstrated at postmortem in the kidneys, lungs, bone marrow and adrenal glands. Disseminated intravascular coagulation appeared to be an important intermediary stage in the pathogenesis of dengue haemorrhagic fever complicated with severe shock and bleeding.
