dc.description.abstract | © 2018 EDIZIONI MINERVA MEDICA Background: the objective of this study was to analyze and compare the effect of acl Kinesio taping technique (acl-Kt) on knee joint biomechanics during a drop vertical jump (dvJ) paired with a pre-post shuttle run exercise. MethodS: twenty healthy male participants performed a dvJ in both acl-Kt and placebo (pt) conditions at pre- and post-shuttle run. all data were collected with 3-d motion analysis. an SpM two-way repeated anova was used to compare knee joint angles and moments in three directions during the dvJ for comparison among conditions and pre-post shuttle run exercise. The kinematic data showed a significant effect in decreasing knee abduction angle between 50% to 55% of the time (P=0.026) and knee rotation angle during take-off (P≤0.048), and there was an exercise effect on knee rotation angle over approximately 70 and 90% of the stance phase (P≤0.047). RESULTS: Kinetic data showed a taping effect on knee rotation moment (P=0.039) at the first 5% of stance time and there was a significant exercise effect (P≤0.023) between 0 to 37% of the stance phase. The results of this study support an acl-Kt effect on reducing knee abduction angle and knee rotation moment during a dvJ in healthy participants. conclUSionS: therefore, acl-Kt may be a useful intervention for reducing risk of acl injury. | en_US |
