Abstract
© 2016 IEEE. According to UN, our world population has reached 7.3 billion with the annual growth rate 1.18%. Increasing of population influenced needs to expand energy production and planning. Currently, energy planning consideration was changed from single criteria approach with economic focus to multi-criteria approach by including criteria from social and environmental. Although, scholars have recently studied and utilized several Multi Criteria Decision Making methods to justify the best suitable energy planning out of those criteria, there are still gaps and concerns that are yet unanswered. In this paper, elements of sustainability energy planning will be assessed and a pilot study will be tested. Finally, challenges and future research opportunity to improve the process of energy planning will be discussed.
