ผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการศึกษาระหว่างเป็นนักศึกษาแพทย์สัมพันธ์กับผลการสอบเพื่อวุฒิบัตรอายุรศาสตร์หรือไม่

Abstract

การคัดเลือกแพทย์ประจำบ้านอายุรศาสตร์โดยทั่วไปจะพิจาณาคะแนนระหว่างเป็นนักศึกษาแพทย์เป็นสำคัญ ได้ทำการศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผลการสอบเพื่อวุฒิบัตรอายุรศาสตร์กับผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการศึกษา ระหว่างที่เป็นนักศีกษาแพทย์ โดยวิเคราะห์จากข้อมูลแพทย์ประจำบ้านภาควิชาอายุรศาสตร์ คณะแพทยศาสตร์ศิริราชพยาบาล ที่เข้าสอบเพื่อวุฒิบัตรระหว่างปีการศึกษา ๒๕๔๘ – ๒๕๕๐ รวม ๓ ปี จำนวน ๘๘ คน พบว่าผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการศึกษาในสองช่วงเวลาที่ต่างกันนี้มีความสัมพันธ์กันดี โดยเฉพาะคะแนนในช่วงชั้นคลินิกของนักศีกษาแพทย์กับคะแนนสอบรวมและคะแนนสอบภาคปฏิบัติขณะเป็นแพทย์ประจำบ้าน (ค่าความสัมพันธ์ ๐.๔๖ และ ๐.๕๔ ค่าพี < ๐.๐๐๑) อย่างไรก็ตาม ผลการประเมินด้วยการสอบทั้งสองช่วงเวลานี้ อาจจะยังไม่สามารถประเมินความรู้ความสามารถโดยรวมของการเป็นอายุรแพทย์ที่สังคมคาดหวังได้อย่างรอบด้านทั้งหมด

Objective: To assess the value of measurements obtained during medical school in predicting future success in Internal Medicine residency program. Methods: Information about 88 internal medicine residents who enter the Thai Board examination during the educational year 2005-2007 were collected. Correlation between the medical student performance and board examination scores were then examined. Results: Significant positive linear correlation was found between the undergraduate average especially during the clinical years and the total scores and also the clinical performance scores during board examination (r = 0.46 and 0.54, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Medical students performance can predict outcome of future success in internal medicine training. The influence of this relationship in future medical practice according to the social desire should be further monitored.
