Abstract
This study was to develop low-cost experimental kits and to design learning tools for Thai secondary school science teaching. Test kits provide a rapid testing device. The test kits used in the study were based on colorimetric analyses. The experimental kit was designed to support students exploring and learning issues associated with substances, solution and the properties of consumer products and the environment. It consisted of instructional manuals for teacher and student activities, lesson plans, assessment items in addition to the test kits for pH, phosphate and dissolved oxygen provided to help students' learning effectively. Pre-knowledge and post tests were conducted before and after using the experimental kit. The data were analyzed both in quantitative and qualitative views. Findings showed that the experimental kits could increase understanding of chemistry concepts and students enjoyed using the experimental kits while learning essential concepts and making more discussion in science. © Common Ground, Kulthida Nugultham, Juwadee Shiowatana.
