dc.description.abstractNovel synthesis of neodymium and erbium doped yttrium vanadate system under hydrothermal and solvothermal conditions has been carried out with reference to the starting materials, the solvent media and in turn the resultant products. Neodymium/erbium doped yttrium orthovanadates of nano-to micrometre sized crystals with varying morphologies have been obtained through hydrothermal and solvothermal reactions. The crystals obtained have been subjected to powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and morphological and scanning electron microscopic studies. © 2010 W. S.
