dc.description.abstract1. 1. A new lectin, called monodin, was purified from the hemolymph of Peneaus monodon by affinity chromatography using a fetuin-agarose column. 2. 2. Monodin is a glycoprotein, having a native mol. wt of 420,000 and a subunit mol. wt of 27,000. 3. 3. The monodin activity was specific for N-acetylneuraminic acid and required 1 mM calcium ion. 4. 4. The antibody to monodin interacted with the extracts of various prawn tissues and serum of other prawns. © 1990.en_US
