Abstract
A case of amebasis of the penis on top of giant condyloma acuminata was reported in a 50 year old Thai who had a history of passing bloody mucus stool for ten years and penile growths with ulceration and occasional painful sensations on the dorsal surface of the corona sulcus of the penis and at the penoscrotal region of three years duration. Electrocauteration and antiseptic application (KMnO 4 and H 2 O 2 ) had been tried without any improvement. Biopsy and total excision of both lesions were peformed. Histopathological examination revealed evidence of giant condyloma acumanata of Buschke-Loewenstein superimposed with trophozoites of Entameba histolytica. Stool examination disclosed cyst forms of Entameba histolytica. Metronidazol 1800 mg per day was given for five days, followed by negative stool examination for E. histolytica for three subsequent days. Comparison of cases reported in the literature with the present case of amebiasis of the penis and the nature of giant condyloma acuminata of Buschke-Loewenstein were discussed.
